The video of a group of people, including women and children, migrating between locations by climbing a mountain is doing the rounds on social media, claiming that people from the neighbouring country Myanmar illegally entering Manipur.
A Facebook user shared this video and wrote: “म्यान्मार से मणिपुर का चोर रास्ता….. कैसे apni जान बचाने जान की बाजी लगा के भारत मे ये लोग आते है.” [English translation: Thief route from Myanmar to Manipur. How they risk their lives to come to India.]

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be False.
Running the keyframes of the video through Reverse Image Search, the NM team found similar videos on Facebook, dated April 2023. The caption of the video suggests that the video is related to Kurdish people — an ethnic group, who lives in the Kurdistan mountain region. It is to be noted that Kurds or Kurdish people are an Iranian ethnic group native to the mountainous region of Kurdistan in Western Asia, which spans southeastern Turkey, northwestern Iran, northern Iraq, and northern Syria.
Our team also came across the extended version of the same video on a Turkey-based YouTube channel named DENA, dated March 12, 2023. According to it, the viral video is of a Nomadic Iranian family. The video’s caption: “An Iranian nomadic family with three young children travels a difficult path to reach their destination”.
We then compared the viral video with the YouTube video. Below you can see the comparison.
Thus, we can conclusively say that the people in the viral video are Kurdish and the viral video shows visuals of a nomadic family travelling in Iran. The video has nothing to do with Myanmar or Manipur.
