New Delhi: In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, as many as 15 bureaucrats have been appointed as secretaries and additional secretaries in various miniseries and government, officials said on Thursday.
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) approved the appointments of several bureaucrats in various ministries and departments.
Vumlunmang Vualnam has assumed the role of the new Civil Aviation Secretary after previously serving as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs.
S. Krishnan has taken on the position of Secretary for the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, while Umang Narula has been appointed as the Secretary for the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Chanchal Kumar has been designated as the new Secretary for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region.
1992 batch officer, Neeraj Mittal, presently in the cadre, has been appointed as Secretary in the Department of Telecommunications.
1989 batch OAS officer, Ashish Upadhyaya, currently serving as Special Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Power as will be appointed as Secretary, National Commission for Backward Classes, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.

The ACC also approved in-situ upgradation of three 1992-batch IAS officers –Tamil Nadu cadre Rajendra Kumar, Manipur cadre Rakesh Ranjan and Madhya Pradesh cadre Neelam Shammi Rao — to the level of special secretary in the rank and pay of secretary to the government of India as a measure personal to them by temporarily upgrading the posts held by them, the order stated.
