A distressing image of deceased children covered in white sheets has gone viral on social media, linking it to the ongoing Israel-Palestine war.
The image is shared on Facebook with a caption: “CHILD GENOCIDE IN PALESTINE 614 Palestinian children murdered by the Israeli IOF Forces #GazaGenocide”.

Doing a simple Reverse Image Search, our team traced the website of Alamy carrying the same image, dated August 21, 2013, with a caption: “Dead children lie on the ground as Syrian rebels claim they were killed in a toxic gas attack by pro-government forces in eastern Ghouta, on the outskirts of Damascus in Syria on August 21, 2013. The Syrian government has denied the claims by the Opposition that it has used chemical weapons”.
Syrian rebels asserted that these children were casualties of a chemical attack by pro-government forces in eastern Ghouta on August 21, 2013. But the Syrian government had refuted claims of using chemical weapons. Additional images from this incident can be found on Alamy, credited to the media site UPI.com.
Our team also found the same image in National Geographic and Daily Mail in 2013.
According to The Guardian report, Gaza’s health ministry on October 13 announced that there have been approximately 1,900 Palestinian casualties in Gaza due to Israeli airstrikes, including 614 children and 370 women. Also, a UN International Children’s Emergency Fund spokesperson stated on October 14 that the conflict resulted in the tragic loss of up to 700 children in the Gaza Strip.
Thus, it is confirmed that a decade-old image from Syria is falsely linked to the ongoing Israel-Palestine war.
