Fact Check: After A Big Win, Has Yogi Adityanath Named Baba Balaknath As Rajasthan CM? Here’s The Truth

Date:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 115 out of 199 seats in Rajasthan, following which a series of political meetings are taking place to decide on the next chief minister. Baba Balaknath, who contested and won from the Tijara constituency in Rajasthan, has gained attention as a potential candidate for CM post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be Misleading.

Our team came across a report in Hindustan Times, dated December 04, 2023. According to the report, commenting on who will bag the top spot, a BJP leader said the decision regarding the CM “will be taken in a couple of days”. Among the leading contenders for the job are two-time chief minister Vasundhara Raje, Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, and two-time parliamentarian from Chittorgarh CP Joshi. Baba Balaknath, 48, BJP’s Lok Sabha member from Alwar, is another dark horse in the race among BJP leaders.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, we found the viral video on a YouTube channel Pyara Hindustan, dated November 22, 2023, with a title: “Yogi’s huge rally in support of Baba Balaknath in Tijara, Rajasthan, Yogi’s speech in the dark of night.” According to the report, Yogi Adityanath addressed a huge rally in Tijara, while campaigning for Baba Balaknath. In the same rally, while referring to the Ram Mandir being built in Ayodhya, he said: “…how many of you want to go to Ayodhya? How many people are interested?” After this, he appeals to the people to vote in support of Baba Balaknath and says, “…and I will also tell Baba Balaknath ji that after taking oath in Jaipur…after January 22, he must come to Ayodhya with the Ram devotees of Tijara…we will take care of the arrangements for them.” Below you can see the video.

It is to be noted the Rajasthan Assembly elections took place on November 25, while the viral video is from November 22. At the time of writing the article (December 5), there was no official announcement from the BJP regarding the CM of Rajasthan.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video was before the Rajasthan election and CM Yogi Adityanath did not announce Baba Balaknath as Rajasthan’s CM candidate.
