Set to mark one of the significant events of 2024, the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, is scheduled for January 22. Welcoming individuals from varied walks of life and professions, the event has extended invitations to prominent figures, including members of the Indian film industry.
While familiar names such as Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar have surfaced as invitees, Bollywood Hungama has revealed an exclusive list of several other actors and filmmakers who have received formal invitations for the ceremony.
A source quoted in a report by Bollywood Hungama said, ‘From Bollywood, notable personalities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, and Akshay Kumar have been extended invitations. Among the esteemed Bollywood directors, invitees include Rajkumar Hirani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Rohit Shetty.’
Expanding the scope beyond Bollywood, invitations have been extended to South Indian film industry luminaries, encompassing superstars like Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Dhanush, and Kantara star Rishabh Shetty. Additionally, producer Mahaveer Jain is among the invitees.
The source clarified, ‘These are among the names on the list. Further invitations are expected to be extended to more artists from Bollywood and various other film industries across India. Anticipated attendance from these celebrities is high, with expectations for their presence at the historic ceremony set to garner worldwide coverage.’
Reportedly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to place the idol in the sanctum sanctorum during the ceremony at the Ram Mandir. As per The Times of India, invitations have also been extended to cricket icons Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, alongside industrialists Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Ratan Tata for the consecration ceremony. Champat Rai, the general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, mentioned plans to invite representatives from 50 foreign countries.
