A video claiming a huge protest started in Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, Punjab, against using EVMs in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections is doing the rounds on social media. Many users have supported removing of the EVMs from elections to save the country.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption: Mushlim log bhi samil huye पंजाब मे, जलियांवाला बाघ के पास, अंदर में, Evm के खिलाफ, बहुत बडा आन्दोलन सुरू हो गया, evm hatawo desh bachawo.

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team traced a YouTube shorts video, dated February 5, 2024, on an unverified profile. The video looks quite similar to the viral clip and as per its description, Gavas Shant Mahayagya held in Himachal Pradesh. Gawas is a village in Rohru tehsil of Shimla district.
We found many such videos on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube as well.
Searching further, we came across a news article in Amar Ujala saying that the Mahayagya was held after 38 years in the village. This yagya, which lasted for three days, was performed for God Gudaru Maharaj. Thousands of people had come to this ceremony to offer prayers. We can see a similar metal pole in the middle of the arena, as seen in the viral clip.
Had any protest happened in Jallianwala Bagh against the use of EVMs, it would have been covered by all major media organisations. But we couldn’t find even a single news corroborating the claim.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming a huge protest started in Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar against using EVMs in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, is fake.
