Ahmedabad To Delhi In Just 3.5 Hours With Bullet Train; All You Need To Know

Date:

New Delhi: Ahmedabad is preparing itself for another high-speed rail Project, this time it will be connecting to Delhi. This new project promises to reduce the travel time between the two major cities from 12 hours to just 3.5 hours, with an average speed of 250 km/h on an elevated path. The proposed train route detailed in the finalized project report by the Railways will cover key stations including Himmatnagar, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Ajmer, Kishangarh, Jaipur, Rewari, and Manesar.

This move is in line with the pledge made by the BJP in its program for the next Lok Sabha elections, which is to build one bullet train in each of India’s three regions—the north, south, and east. To improve connectivity and increase tourism, the government plans to launch six new high-speed rail projects around the nation, including this new bullet train between Ahmedabad and Delhi.

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC) launched the project in September 2020, and it is presently seeking the centre’s final clearance. The 900 km elevated track between Ahmedabad and Delhi, according to railway officials, will cut travel times by nearly nine hours. Aerial LiDAR surveys were also carried out to speed up the design process while minimizing disturbance to the current infrastructure.

To minimize property acquisition and prevent the protracted legal fights that are frequently connected with such massive projects, great attention has been taken to choosing the alignment of the lines with the current railway network. Starting from the Sabarmati station—which has a multimodal hub—the service will run at a top speed of 350 km/h.

All eyes are currently on the rapidly approaching inauguration of the Ahmedabad-Delhi bullet train, which is poised to transform travel between these two major cities, even though the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train service is anticipated to begin by July 2026.
