Mumbai: In an update on the firing incident outside Salman Khan’s Bandra residence, Mumbai’s Killa Court on Tuesday, remanded the two arrested suspects, Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21) from Bihar, to the custody of the Mumbai Crime Branch until April 25. The accused were brought before the court following a medical examination.
Notably, since November 2022, Salman Khan’s security level has been elevated to Y-Plus due to threats from gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. Khan has also been authorised to carry a personal firearm and has acquired a new armoured vehicle for added protection.
Earlier, Bhuj police apprehended two suspects believed to be affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The arrested individuals, identified as Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21) from Bihar, were handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch for further interrogation, as confirmed by a press release issued by the Bhuj police.
The incident, which unfolded on Sunday morning, witnessed two unidentified assailants opening fire outside Galaxy Apartments, where Salman Khan resides, before fleeing the scene. Law enforcement agencies acted swiftly, with preliminary investigations revealing that the suspects arrived on a motorcycle, concealed under helmets, suggesting a meticulously planned attack. They discharged four rounds before escaping, leaving behind a live cartridge.
In response to the incident, Salman Khan’s brother and actor Arbaaz Khan expressed concern, stating that the family was deeply affected by the “disturbing” incident.
Arbaaz Khan dismissed claims made by purported spokespersons that the family remained unaffected, emphasizing that such statements were untrue. He affirmed the family’s full cooperation with the Mumbai Police in the ongoing investigation.
Prior to the arrests, the Mumbai Crime Branch had summoned two individuals for questioning regarding the firing incident. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also reached out to Salman Khan, discussing the matter and suggesting heightened security measures.
