On April 17, the final day of campaigning before the first phase of Lok Sabha Polls scheduled for April 19, 2024, a 28-second video clip featuring Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan endorsing the Congress surfaced on social media.
In the video, Khan can be heard speaking in Hindi, “Friends, in this election you have two types of guarantees, one is good and one is bad. The bad news is that once again they (BJP) make fake promises to ruin your life. But the good news is that now you have five Nyay (guarantees of the Congress Party) to develop. Only the hand sign (The symbol of the Congress Party) can change this situation.”
The Facebook post reads:“साथियों कांग्रेस का अभियान है #HaathBadlegaHalaat आम आदमी के हालात गरीब के हालात पिछड़ों के हालात किसान के हालात नौजवान के हालात महिलाओं के हालात मज़दूर की हालात अल्पसंख्यक के हालात वो हालात जो इस पिछले 10 सालों में पूरी तरह से ख़राब हो गये हैं। कांग्रेस दे रही है न्याय की गारंटी। ऐसी गारंटी जो सिर्फ़ कुछ उद्योगपतियों के लिए नहीं पर सबके लिए लागू होगी। जिससे युवाओं को नौकरी मिलेगी, महिलाओं को महंगाई से राहत मिलेगी, किसानों को फसल का उचित दाम मिलेगा, मज़दूर के बच्चों को मुफ़्त शिक्षा मिलेगी। इसलिए हाथ को चुने।” (English translation: Fellow citizens, this is Congress’s campaign. #HandWillChangeTheSituation The condition of the common man The condition of the poor The condition of the marginalised The condition of the farmers The condition of the youth The condition of women The condition of the labourers The condition of the minorities The conditions that have deteriorated completely over the past 10 years. Going through the viral clip closely, the NM team observed that Aamir Khan’s lip movements and facial expressions do not synchronize with his speech. Moreover, at the 9-second mark, a red glowing graphic spot is visible at the bottom of the video — a feature commonly associated with Star Group videos. Notably, Aamir Khan previously hosted a talk show Satyamev Jayate on Star Plus, prompting our investigation into the trailers of the show.
With a keyword search on YouTube — aamir khan, satyamev jayate promo — we found the identical video uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Satyamev Jayate, dated August 30, 2016.
In that particular video, Aamir Khan can be heard stating, “Guys, I have two news for you, one is good and one is bad. The bad news is that I will talk to you again on Sunday. But the good news is that I will only come for the next five Sundays. Every Sunday of March.”
In the authentic video, Aamir Khan neither makes an appeal to vote for Congress nor does he mention ‘Nyay’.
Furthermore, analysis carried out with the TrueMedia tool revealed that the viral video showcasing Aamir Khan’s urging to vote for Congress was, indeed, manipulated using AI techniques.

Therefore, we can conclude that the viral video depicting Aamir Khan endorsing the Congress has been edited or manipulated using AI.
