While Auto Expo 2018 saw several carmakers flaunting their upcoming electric vehicles and future technology, the new-gen Honda CR-V was also showcased that grabbed all the attention.
As per reports, the car introduced is the fifth-generation CR-V and Honda Cars India will be introducing the premium SUV by the end of the 2018-19 financial year. Although the CR-V has been a popular choice among the premium SUV buyer, the current model has now become dated that shows in the company’s sales numbers. With the new-gen model, Honda plains to maintain the CR-V old position and come up with an even sweeter deal. For the first time, the SUV will also be unveiled with Diesel powertrain. Honda claims that this will embolden CR-V’s position in the SUV segment principally dominated by diesel variants.
As for the tech, the new Honda CR-V will come with a new 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine which will go about 120 horses and will develop 300 Nm of peak torque.
The company also offers the petrol version and the buyers will have the choice of the naturally aspirated 2.4-litre, four-cylinder engine making 184 bhp. AWD is also on offer as an option like before. Addressing the occasion, Yoichiro Ueno, President & CEO of Honda Cars India said, “The All-New CR-V with its diesel introduction will help us fortify our presence in upper segments”.
Visually, the all-new 5th Generation Honda CR-V features bold and sophisticated new styling having LED headlights and tail lights, LED Daytime Running Lights, a sharp-lined front grille enhancing a stronger look, and new sporty-designed alloy wheels.
The CR-V’s cabin is also more spacious offers more comfort and comes with the option of third-row seating. The interior quality has also been kicked a notch up and comes with premium quality material for upholstery, panels and in-car controls.
