Imphal: Oinam Nabakishore Singh was appointed as the new Chief Secretary, Manipur following the retirement of P C Lawmkunga.
The new Chief Secretary had earlier held the charge of Additional Chief Secretary and was also the Chief Executive Officer, Election, of the state government.
Having an illustrious academic career, O Nabakishore is a Manipur-Tripura IAS cadre.
He is the first among the Meitei community to be appointed to the top post.
He hails from Ningthoukhong under Bishnupur district. He topped the state matric examination in 1975 and was also among the toppers in MSc (Physics) in Delhi University in 1982.
