Since January 22, there’s been a dispute between the Texas government and the federal government over a border fence in Shelby Park, Eagle Pass, Texas. This area, on the U.S.-Mexico border, often sees a lot of undocumented migrants. The problem started when the Supreme Court allowed the removal of a wire fence at the border. Texas is now stopping federal authorities from getting into the park, causing a standoff. Because of this, some right-wing groups are planning a “convoy” to the border to protest against migration, calling it a “border invasion”.
Amid this context, another video showing tractors lined up on a hillside has surfaced on social media, claiming that it depicts American farmers in Texas gathering to block migrants from entering the border.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team found an X post, dated January 19, 2024, with a caption: “The demonstrations of German farmers are still magical and exceptional. What an impressive event in Forchtenberg, a town of 5,000 inhabitants. #Bauernproteste”
The video matches with the viral clip, describing that it is from the farmer’s protest in Germany for cutting the subsidies.
Running a keyword search on farmer protests in Forchtenberg, our team found a YouTube channel with an extended version of the video, dated January 15, 2024.
The video description states that “On January 14, 2024, around 500 farmers protested in the vineyards of Forchtenberg in Hohenlohe district against the federal government’s current austerity policy.”
Hence, we can conclusively say that the video of German farmers protesting against the government’s plans to remove agricultural benefits has been falsely represented as a border dispute in Texas.
